LEARNING IN THE SENIOR ROOM
The senior class at Tapu School caters for Year 4 to 8 children. The teaching of the class is shared by the principal, Spencer Baty and another experienced teacher, Ruth Redwood.
They share the delivery of the curriculum so as to capitalise on the strengths that each teachers has. Spencer teaches some strands of the maths programme while Ruth concentrates on the teaching of numeracy. Spencer is responsible for teaching social studies, science, technology, health and physical education. Ruth teaches music, art, drama and aspects of language and reading. Spencer also teaches aspects of language and reading and is responsible for education outside the classroom, including the marine academy.
