Tapu School ... Where thinking and learning are fun ...

SUSTAINABILITY

This year Spencer has been working with the Advisory Service and other teachers on the Coromandel on Sustainability in Schools. This approach to environmental education has been spearheaded by advisers Mary Loveless and Lyn Rogers.  Room one at Tapu School have taken the concept seriously and a  long term plan has been developed to support the following projects.

Each project has an action plan to support it indicating which children have ownership of the projects, how parents might be able to help, probable costs and a time frame.

The big challenge for us now is to find funds to support the various projects and co-ordinate people to make our plans a reality

We think SUSTAINABILITY  means looking after our school environment and surroundings and caring for  it and improving it for the future.

These are projects we want to do in 2007  and  beyond to make this small part of New Zealand a better place for us and those who come after us. These projects are just the start of our sustainability journey.
