OUR   PRINCIPAL

Kia ora,

I am excited to be the new Principal of Tapu School. I have been enjoying getting to know the students, whānau and wider community. I am also enjoying learning about local Pakeha and Māori history from local people and from books. Such as the reason behind the Tapu at Waipatukakahu (the original name of the Tapu River). The school has its own little museum which showcases the history of the area and helps to connect the present with the past.

We have a supportive community around us who are always keen to lend a hand and share their knowledge. Our students are passionate about learning and their environment. They are active and love to take part in physical education and outdoor activities. Our whānau are also supportive and are always keen to check in on how things are going and how they might be able to help.

I am very fortunate to have an established staff made up of local people who know and care about the students, whanau and the community. This invaluable sense of place enables them to support and nurture the next generation of the community and provide continuity in the students' lives.

I welcome your calls or emails in regards to Tapu School, such as enrolments and ways you can contribute to our school. Please get in touch to arrange a meeting, either online or in person. I am busy teaching most days, however I will find time to meet with you.

Ngā mihi
